Data From Loggernet to Excel

CassStead92 May 30, 2018 05:50 PM

Hi there,

I am completely new to the world of Loggernet and have a very basic question. I simply need to collect some temperature data and would like to use it in excel. We are using Loggernet 3.4(1?) and the person working on this before me simply copied the data from what I think was the view tab (went to connect, collect, view, and copied that data). However, when I try to do this I get an error icon saying I can't copy unless I am in simple mode. I'm just not entirely sure what simple mode is and the previous person is now out of the country for the summer. If anyone could provide insight to this (probably very easy) question it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Cassie

The default TOA5 output format can be read by Excel without trouble. The only inconvenience is that Excel doesn't automatically know how to open files that end in .dat.

In Excel, do File>Open. You have to browse for the file and use the drop down option to show all file types. If you open that way, the data import wizard will appear. Mark it as comma delimited, and data will open fine.

Do not save any changes in Excel back to the same file. Excel inserts a lot of information in the header of files, which will prevent Loggernet from accessing it. Only save changes to a different file with File>Save As.
