CR300 maximum current.

I am setting a small soil monitoring profile, using some CS650 and CR300 datalogger. Before installation I would like to perform some tests and configure the devices (SDI-12 addressing, programming). I have a  power source I used to use in previous applications (15 Vdc and 1 A) and I planned to use it to feed the system (normally in the field I will have a solar system), however in the datalogger specifications it is mentioned that the current is limited to 0.9 A maximum. Is it possible to use this power source without damaging the datalogger or do I have to get another source with less current?

You should be fine. The .9A is a limit to the amount of charge current the CR300 will pass through to a charging battery and the system, even though you can supply up to 1A. The CR300 and sensors will probably not come close to needing that much. If it did, the CR300 would not be damaged. It would just limit the current or possibly shut off. If you do need more than .9A, you could connect your power supply to the BAT terminals instead. I don't recall the current limit there but it should be a little higher, meaning it will allow more currnet to your system.
