Is it possible to access remotely a data-logger using the device configuration utility? The data-logger is conected to the internet using a cellular modem and I have the public IP address of the data-logger.
I tried to connect to it using the option 'Use IP Connection' and setting the communication port to "PublicIP:6785", but it doesn't work. What I'm trying to do is possible? Is there any additional configuration that I'm missing?
Yes, you can remotely access a datalogger using the device config utility. I have done that a few times before using the same method and setup you described. One thing that has helped me in the past with connection issues was uploading the modem template that was provided by Campbell Scientific for the modem I'm using (RV50) which was provided in the "Downloads" section of the product page on their website.
I just tried connecting with a new datalogger and modem that I hadn't before and it wouldn't connect right away, even after uploading the modem template. I resolved it by checking the Ethernet IP address of the datalogger (192.168.xx.xxx) and changing the port forwarding on the modem for 6785 to that same address (I had to change the 15 that was in there to 13). Then I could connect (once I remembered to disconnect the local devconfig connection).
Hope that helps.
