Hello.
We need to extend cable length of 108 temperature probe from 5m to 75m using wire solidering or terminal boxes.
So the question is which part of the cable may be extended: 2-wirecable before a resistor (keeping the resistor close to a data logger) or will it be better to make the extension using 3-wire cable attached after resistor (having 5m from a sensor to resistor and 70m from resistor to a data logger)? Will it affect readings from the sensor?
Thanks
Hi
you need to extend the two-wire cable with screen and leave the resistors near the logger.
Regarding the maximum length the manual says "Maximum Cable Length: 305 m (1000 ft)".
The manual also discusses other interesting and important information regarding errors caused by long cables.
Errors for electrical noise and also errors due to signal propagation time in long cables.
