DNP3 protocol for CR6 matter

happy_man Aug 16, 2019 04:28 AM

My plant has 3 stations, each station has: one datalogger CR6 that collects 300 vibrating wire sensors, and one LoggerNet to read CR6. Now we build a new SCADA system (it supports DNP3) at the center to gather all 3 stations, so we intend to use DNP3 in SCADA to collect data directly from 3 CR6s . Hence, I concern about technical matters:
- LoggerNet and SCADA can read CR6 at the same time ?
- Maximum number of tag can be build for DNP3 table inside CR6 for my situation ?
- Other limitations ?

Thanks so much !

The CR6 is capable of simultaneous Loggernet and DNP3 connections.

The CR6 programs will need to be updated to include the DNP3 outstation setup and tag assignment.

Memory limits the amount of variables that can be mapped to DNP3. However, it is extremely unlikely someone will hit the limit.

Dear JDavis,

Thank you for your reply. For my situation, the number of tag is quite big, so could you tell me more details:

- 300 tags are possible or not ?

- How long of time for data that the CR6 can store if i set storing period of data table in CR6 is 5 minutes ?

300 tags is possible.

You can view the table fill times on the CR6 to know how quick the tables fill up.
