Hi,
In one measurement station I have a CELL215 connected to a CR1000 by RS232 (on COM4). To really avoid the modem to consume some power, as most of the time it's switched off, I power it over the SW12-port.
That's also the reason why I prefer to use RS232 and not the CS I/O connection. (It's not that I don't trust the deep sleep functionality mentioned in other posts, but that seemed the easiest way to me.)
Anywhay, as it would be useful to read the CELL215s status information, mainly the RSSI respectively the RSRP, I'm looking for a solution. So my questions:
1. Are there any other options to read those values, as for example a direct AT command to the mobile module? As with other modems for example "AT+CSQ"?
2. Could I try to still use the CS I/O-connection (with terminal option as discribed in the CELL215s manual), but to interrupt the lines of pins number 1 and 8? I'm a bit afraid to try that, because I won't risk to damage neither the modem nor the logger.
Thank's a lot for your advice, already in advance. Best regards, Chasper
I've a CR1000X and Cell210 communicating over the CS I/O port. like you I wanted the functionality the CS I/O port provided along with the ability to power cycle the modem from the data loggers switched 12 vdc port. It was suggested to clip pin 8 on the CS I/O cable to eliminate the modem from pulling power from the CS I/O port. This has been working well going on 6 months.
