There is very slow data collection using direct connect on CR1000x dataloggers (about 1,600 Bps) with RF407 installed via CSIO port. There is much faster data collection (about 340,000 Bps) using direct connect on CR1000x dataloggers that do NOT have RF407 installed. Would it be a good idea to just unplug the RF407 during the direct connect data collection to speed it up?
If you are plugging in direct to the USB port of the CR1000X, the radio should not make a noticeable difference. Any difference in connection speed would be because of other things different about that datalogger, like what it is talking to over the radio. Performing the measurements and communication specified by the program takes priority over data collection.
If plugging in through CSIO with another interface like a SC32B, then yes expect the radio to make a difference. All devices on CSIO share bandwidth.
The datalogger scans one 1-m SoilVUE sensor every 3 minutes. Maybe the datalogger was busy scanning the sensors on the SoilVUE when I was trying to collect the data.
