I have been trying to connect a new field laptop to the Campbell Scientific CR1000X Series dataloggers using direct connect, but I have been persistently getting a serial 5 error. I tried all USB ports and restarting the field laptop a couple times, but I'm still getting the serial 5 error. I tried the same cable and CR1000X on two other computers and did not get the serial 5 error. I recall that this error started appearing after our IT person installed the FTDI driver for the USB to DB9 Male RS-232 cable. Are there any drivers that need to be installed to use the USB 2.0 Cable, Type A Male to Micro B Male for the CR1000x?
Here's the full error:

check DeviceConfig tool for the CR1000X .. there is a button that installs a driver for the logger usb connection. Should work afterwards.
