Hello all,
I have a Druck PTX 510 series Pressure transducer (4-20mA, 9 - 30v, 0 - 10 Bar) and a CR800.
I used Short Cut to produce a short program to get the sensor working using the 4 - 20mA Sensor option. The wiring diagram tells me to connect the + wire to 1H and the - wire to 1L and bridge the two connwctions with a 100 ohm precision resister, which I did.
Problem is, this transducer requires power between 9 and 30v to function but no voltage is coming from these two connections I am being told to use. The CR800 is being powered by a 12v sealed lead acid battery for field use.
Confused to say the least !
This transducer is a 2 wire sensor obviously without seperate wire(s) for power which would be easy, how can I hook this up to the CR800 and get it reading. ? ? ?
Any help, preferably with a wiring diagram would be greatfully received.
Many Thanks
Paul
Hi
the positive of the probe must be connected to a positive power supply, protected by a fuse or, for example, to the sw12 terminal of the CR800 to turn it on only when needed if you want to save energy. The negative must be connected to the 1H channel of the logger together with one end of the 100 ohm resistor (precision and stable in temperature). In the CS catalog there are various models suitable for this use. The other end of the resistor is connected to channel 1L. A jumper between 1L and GND will close the power circuit. With the differential measurement on channel 1diff (1H /1L) it will be possible to measure the mV generated by the current (4..20mA) of the probe or 400...2000 mV according to Ohm's law. You can convert these mV into pressure values, using the multiplier and offset of the measurement instruction, according to the calibration of the probe.
