Hello, I am new to the topic of communications with Campbell equipment, could someone tell me how to connect to the datalogger remotely (what specifications of the SIM do I need, and what configurations in the modem?), I have the rut240 connected to the datalogger.
Greetings
I have made many connections like what you are asking. You have 2 possibilities. Although complex, in broad terms this is what needs to be done. I don't know how the SIMs of the various operators in your country connect to the internet but here in Italy you have the possibility of having SIMs with a certain amount of traffic on contract or rechargeable. On contract, you also have the possibility of also having the DENAT service to have the IP address not hidden by the firewall, therefore with a public but not fixed IP. If you do not have the possibility of having a public IP then the logger and router will be unreachable, but the logger will be able to communicate with a LoggerNet or PC400 that runs on a PC with a public and fixed IP. If you have the possibility to do the DENAT then you can obtain a public and fixed IP through the services offered by various DDNS operators. Following an account with these operators (better if already included in the RUT240 list) you will have the possibility to reach the logger via a port forwarding rule in the RUT240 which will transport all connections on port 6785 to the fixed IP of the logger inside of the RUT240 LAN. In both situations, the logger will be able to independently send historical data via FTP or email, even if it cannot be reached remotely to change a parameter, the program or change the clock. You will be able to do it locally if not complicated. If you have an IT colleague I know that VPNs can be created but I don't know about this possibility, I think your colleague does.
Configure the RUT240 modem with the appropriate settings to establish a remote connection.
