RavenXTVs went off line last night. Not my server, not my equipment. Verizons fault?

HKing Aug 15, 2017 07:05 PM

Hi, three of my Raven modums went offline at 8pm last night. Initial thought was power outage or server issue at the host location. But further investigation shows that our servers were on line and it was not on the server/internet end. I do not believe that 3 pieces of equipment 30-40 miles apart failed at the exact same time. So, I assume it has to be with verizon? Ha anyone else experienced this today or recently? I am trying to get a hold of Verizon so see if it was a problem on thier end, but thats proving difficult, all I know is the bill has been paid. Next step is to go pull the plug on the ravens and reset them.

But, 3 pieces of eqipment all three go off line at 8:35pm. Only thing they have in common is Verizon, and my servers. Any my servers are fine. Thoughts?

The Sierra Wireless DDNS server went down. If you use eairlink.com addresses, the communication will be down until the server is back up. Sierra Wireless is actively working on it.

Thank you ver much!

JDavis, once the servers are back online, do you think a reset of the modum will be neccesary at the station. It cost me over $400 just to go reset the three modums on an uneccesary trip. So, I would like to not have to!

When the IP address on the modem changes, it will update to the DDNS server. Dynamic IP addresses change regularly. So, eventually they should be back online without intervention.

We had a similar issue early on in our Sierra Wireless saga and ended up using a networked POE switch with a splitter to power the Sierra Wireless modem, which allows us to power cycle the POE port if needed remotely.

I got notification from Sierra Wireless today that the DNS is back online @1148MST. Still unable to connect to any of our stations at eairlink.com. Each of our modems has a relay that switches it off for the last 10 minutes of the hour and back on at the top of the next hour. We currently have over 80 RavenX-CR10X or CR100 sites with this issue.

AgMet, thankfully most of my sites are radio. But the three that are on the Ravens are only accesable by boat, and its about 70 miles of running to get to them. THankfully I do not have 80 to deal with! But yes, I am still not able to acces eairlink adress through logger net. And id rahter not spend the money to go pull the plug. One of the stations has a reset at midnight, so it should correct its self. But the other two probably not. Hopefully Siearra gets it corrected soon.

Hoping what Jdavis is correct, using the earlink it changes the ip, so maybe just waiting on the server to catch up.
